Abstract: | This research aimed to evaluate the physical properties of soil in an organic rice crop in Las Gilces, Crucita Parish, Portoviejo Canton. Spatial variations in soil conductance and electrical resistance, key indicators for sustainable crop management, were analyzed. The study was conducted in a 0.85-hectare area using sampling techniques and specialized equipment, such as the AQUATERR EC-350, to collect data on electrical conductivity, resistance, salinity, and other parameters. The average values obtained indicated moderate conductance (2395.68 cS/m) and low resistance (0.000418 Ω), which reflect suitable conditions for plant growth. Statistical analyses, including ANOVA and Tukey tests, found no significant differences between sampling points, suggesting a homogeneous distribution of soil properties in the studied area. However, the need for proper management to prevent the leaching of essential nutrients, particularly in coastal soils like those in Las Gilces, was emphasized. This research provides valuable insights for optimizing organic rice production and proposes sustainable management strategies that benefit both agricultural productivity and environmental conservation in the region. |
