El proceso museográfico y su importancia en la promoción de espacios culturales.

Abstract

This research analyzes the impact of the museographic process on the promotion of cultural spaces, taking the Bahía de Caráquez Museum in Ecuador as a case study. It is based on the importance of cultural tourism as a tool to preserve tangible and intangible heritage, boost the local economy and strengthen cultural identity. Museography, understood as the discipline in charge of the design and assembly of exhibitions, plays a crucial role in presenting collections in an attractive, informative and accessible way for visitors. Using a qualitative approach, surveys and interviews were applied to visitors and museum staff. The results reveal that 74% of those surveyed consider it essential to implement a new museum room that connects the pre-Columbian, colonial and republican history of Bahía de Caráquez. Likewise, 94% support the greater inclusion of the local community in cultural activities. These findings highlight the need to optimize underutilized museum spaces to prolong visitors' stays and enhance their educational experience. As a proposal, the creation of a thematic museum room titled "Bahía de Caráquez: Traces of Our History" is proposed. This will include display cases with archaeological objects, interactive panels and modern technologies such as augmented reality, seeking to enrich the historical narrative and attract a diverse audience. The implementation of this room will not only contribute to the strengthening of cultural tourism, but also to the valorization of the historical and cultural heritage of the region, promoting a sustainable museum management model.
