Abstract: The present study aimed to analyse the morphological and agronomic aspects of the productive phase of 54 elite selections of barraganete plantain (Musa AAB) in El Carmen, Manabí. Each selection was considered as a unique treatment with its own coding, using a completely randomised design with five repetitions on a plot of 1,260 m². The results showed no significant differences in the number of leaves at flowering and harvest. However, treatment T4 (1304525) stood out with the highest average, recording 6 leaves at harvest and 11.2 leaves at flowering, indicating a possible advantage in foliar development. In terms of morphological characteristics, T4 had the highest average value in pseudostem circumference (66.03 ± 2.91 cm), plant height (4.04 ± 0.19 m), and number of hands (8.2 ± 0.41). Regarding yield, treatment T4 showed the highest values in bunch weight (15.31 ± 0.77 kg), hand weight (3.14 ± 0.43 kg), and yield per hectare (14.68 ± 0.79 t/ha), outperforming the other selections evaluated. Treatment T4 (130452-5) demonstrated superiority in morphological variables such as pseudostem circumference, plant height, and number of hands, suggesting favourable agronomic potential for the growth and development of barraganete plantain.
Description: El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar morfológica y agronómicamente la fase productiva de 54 selecciones élite de plátano barraganete (Musa AAB) en El Carmen, Manabí. Cada selección fue considerada como un tratamiento único con su propia codificación, empleándose un diseño completamente al azar con cinco repeticiones en una superficie de 1,260 m².
