Abstract: | This research analyzes the use of vulgar language in sports journalism, focusing on the case studies of Marca90 from Ecuador and El Chiringuito de Jugones from Spain. Using a quantitative approach and a descriptive-comparative design, data were collected through analysis sheets, classifying vulgar expressions according to Wajnryb's taxonomy. The results reveal significant differences: Marca90 exhibits frequent and diverse use of vulgar language, predominantly insults and swear words, while El Chiringuito de Jugones displays a more moderate and controlled usage, limited to a few categories such as swear words and obscenities. These differences reflect not only diverse communicative strategies but also the cultural and media-specific characteristics of both contexts. The study contributes to understanding the impact of vulgar language in digital sports journalism, a phenomenon that, although controversial, allows media outlets to connect with younger audiences. The findings highlight the ethical and cultural tensions surrounding this linguistic resource while paving the way for future studies on how digital platforms transform media communication. |
