Abstract

This research addresses the production of transmedia content in the entertainment industry, focusing on its historical evolution, fundamental principles, and the specific context of Ecuador. Transmedia storytelling is defined as an approach that allows stories to be expanded across multiple platforms, encouraging active audience participation and the creation of cohesive narrative universes. Through a literature review, the differences between transmedia and multimedia are identified, the key elements of transmedia storytelling are explored, and the role of the journalist in content creation in this new media environment is analyzed. The research also highlights the growing importance of transmedia production in Ecuador, underlining the challenges and opportunities facing the entertainment industry in the country. Finally, strategies are proposed to improve the implementation of transmedia in the Ecuadorian context, emphasizing the need for specialized training and the development of adequate technological infrastructures.
