Abstract

The purpose of this degree project was to implement a Local Area Network (LAN) with 8 connection points in the computer lab of Escuela Rumiñahui to improve connectivity, optimize access to technological resources, and enhance communication within the educational environment. The project addressed the challenges faced by the school, where students and teachers had limited access to the internet and shared technological tools. This limitation affected the efficiency of practical classes, hindered online research, and limited the use of digital educational resources. The methodology used in the research was qualitative-quantitative, utilizing bibliographic, field, and applied research types, as well as analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive methods. The sample consisted of 15 members of the teaching and administrative staff, with surveys conducted among them and interviews with the school's technology management team to gain an accurate diagnosis of the current network situation in the lab. The results revealed that the existing network was inadequate for meeting the connectivity needs of the laboratory, negatively impacting academic performance and student activities. This project proposes the installation of a new LAN infrastructure, distributed across 8 strategic points in the computer lab, ensuring a stable and fast connection. The necessary equipment, including switches, routers, and network cables, was installed to guarantee adequate coverage, enabling efficient connectivity for all devices used in the classroom. This LAN network will optimize internet access, improve collaboration between students and teachers through shared resources, and provide access to various educational applications that require a solid technological infrastructure. In conclusion, the implementation of this LAN network in the computer lab of Escuela Rumiñahui is a key solution to address the connectivity problems and enhance the educational quality. This project will not only facilitate access to digital tools but also promote the use of innovative technologies in the teaching-learning process, enabling a more dynamic and modern educational experience. The improvement in the laboratory's technological infrastructure will strengthen the school's capabilities and better prepare students for the challenges of the digital world.
