Abstract: Non-vital teeth whitening is a procedure used to enhance the appearance of teeth that have lost pulp vitality, usually due to root canal treatments or dental trauma. While this technique is effective for lightening discolored teeth, it carries several risks that should be considered before undergoing the treatment. One of the most significant risks is external root resorption, a condition in which the body begins to resorb the material of the tooth from the root outward, weakening the dental structure and compromising its long-term stability. Finally, whitening agents can cause irritation to soft tissues, such as the gums, potentially resulting in temporary discomfort or inflammation. Therefore, it is crucial that the procedure is performed under the supervision of a dental professional to minimize these risks and ensure a safe and aesthetic outcome.
