Abstract

A CCTV system is an installation of connected equipment that generates images that can only be seen by the personnel in charge of that area. These are used for the supervision and surveillance of spaces through the installation of video surveillance cameras. These cameras monitor and record activities in different environments, within our home, at work or in an institution and public and private areas. Through this project, we sought to identify the problems related to the lack of security mechanism at the Elías Cedeño Jerves Educational Unit and therefore develop a solution through a design to implement a video surveillance system that allows deterring or preventing crimes related to the insecurity. To find the initiative of the video surveillance system, different bibliographic sources were founded and analyzed with the objective of developing the theoretical framework. To carry out this degree work, the security knowledge of the rector of the university had to be taken into account. Elías Cedeño Jerves Educational Unit, in turn, have the points of view of teachers and students. The process of identifying the problem at the Elías Cedeño Jerves Educational Unit was carried out through a situational analysis with interviews with administrative staff, and a review of previous incidents related to insecurity. Vulnerability diagnoses, on-site observations, and data collection on the incidence of crimes were carried out. The solution was carried out by applying the PPDIOO methodology (Prepare, Plan, Design, Implement, Operate and Optimize), which therefore establishes a structured approach for the design of IP-based video surveillance networks. This methodology guarantees proper planning and efficient operation of the CCTV system.
