Afectaciones oftalmológicas en pacientes con enfermedades reumáticas.

Abstract

Rheumatic conditions can cause ocular changes that impact the quality of life of healthcare users. This article compiles information from various bibliographic sources, resulting in a critical analysis of the ophthalmic changes associated with these conditions, their prevalence, and how they can alter the daily lives of those who suffer from them. The main objective of this article is to identify ocular changes in patients with rheumatic diseases, emphasizing the adverse impact on the well-being of each patient and determining the prevalence of more recurrent conditions. A systematic review was conducted with a qualitative and quantitative approach and a descriptive scope. Relevant information was extracted from databases such as SciELO, Scopus, LILACS, and PubMed, implementing eligibility criteria. The data found included the following ocular disorders: retinopathy, uveal diseases such as uveitis, scleritis, dry keratoconjunctivitis, band keratopathy, and optic neuritis. It is concluded that these disorders impair daily activities, autonomy, psychological well-being, and social and occupational functioning.
