Abstract: | Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is the loss of continuity of the amniotic sac before the onset of labor, regardless of gestational age. It is currently a problem that has a direct and significant impact on public health due to the multiple complications that it can cause to the couple, especially if it occurs in the first weeks of life during pregnancy. Objective: To elaborate an educational manual for the care of risk factors that lead to premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women. Methodology: This is an analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, cross-sectional research work, following the methodology of bibliographic reviews. The search for information was based on the use of descriptors such as premature rupture of membranes, complications of PROM, nursing interventions in premature rupture of membranes, in different databases such as Latindex, Redalyc, SciELO, as well as sources from health organizations (WHO, PAHO, MOH). Results: Risk factors associated with PROM were identified, including infections and history of PROM and prematurity. Similarly, most evidenced complications such as hemorrhage, prematurity and placental conditions were established. Conclusions: It is important to identify risk factors and, consequently, their complications in order to take appropriate measures in case of premature rupture of membranes. |
