Atención de enfermería en paciente de cuidados paliativos - Revisión Bibliográfica.

Abstract

Palliative care focuses on active care and continues to seek to make the user feel comfortable and somehow be able to alleviate the distressing symptoms that can occur at the end of life. Objective: We seek to analyze the care provided by nursing to patients in palliative care based on a bibliographic review. Methodology: A retrospective bibliographic review study was carried out, selecting articles from 2016 to 2022; health databases such as PubMed, Medigraphic, Elsevier, MSP, WHO, CDC were searched using Boolean operators such as AND, OR and NOT, the study was carried out from April 2022 to January 2023, articles in Spanish, articles from scientific journals (38), MSP (2), WHO (1), CDC (1), Others (18) were included. Results: Specialized professional nursing training in palliative care is necessary, in which tools such as communication must be highly developed; and the level of maturity, both personal and professional, so nurses in this area have a basic understanding of palliative care, while the psychosocial aspect is insufficient. Furthermore, it should be noted that the majority of articles found (56%) deal with nursing care for palliative care patients. Conclusions: It is evident that caring for people who require palliative care requires considering the needs of the patient, their family, and their health status, symptoms, and multiple complications. Therefore, nurses must be empowered in their knowledge and care of patients, and must be able to competently and efficiently address the demands of citizens and the challenges of the profession.
