Abstract

This article addresses the role of the UN Security Council in resolving armed conflicts, specifically the latest war events that have occurred in the Second World War, all in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Charter. Emphasis is placed on the authority granted to the Council to make decisions related to maintaining international peace and security through peaceful measures and coercive actions. In addition, cases throughout history where the intervention of military forces has been used with due authorization from the Council are explored. Finally, the current challenges facing the Council are presented, including questions such as the increase in its membership, the need to adapt to new global threats and having to guarantee respect for human rights through its actions.
