Abstract: | Atrial fibrillation is a tachyarrhythmia whose characteristic is based on abnormal activity by the atria of the heart, affecting its regular functioning. This disease affects people over 65 years of age with a higher incidence and can be associated with multiple complications, including stroke an event with a high rate of morbidity and mortality, which is given by different multifactorial agents of aggravation, since then the association of both diseases has been studied with the objective of evaluating the association of atrial fibrillation with the triggering of stroke for preventive management of possible complications. The methodology was carried out through a descriptive bibliographic review, based on the search for information in databases of: Pubmed, Scielo, Elsevier, ScienceDirect, Springer, LILACS, Medigraphic and Google academic. Among the conclusive aspects of the present investigation, it has been confirmed that the predisposition to generate a cerebrovascular event that is generally ischemic has to do mainly with age, with adults over 65 years of age having a higher incidence of suffering from possible complications, the female sex For the reason of having greater longevity, the pathologies tend to worsen, suffering from other high-risk heart diseases, abandonment of anticoagulant treatment, ethical and racial factor where non-white people are less likely to have atrial fibrillation disease but have a greater risk of generating a cerebrovascular event. |
