Abstract: The objective of this study is to design a tool which determines the profile of a tourist visiting the city of Manta. For the design of the tool, theoretical and methodological precepts were established, describing the steps to follow for the completion of each indicator. With those indicators, a pilot plan was executed through direct observation, and it was possible to analyze the profile of tourists in the city of Manta; the research sample corresponds to two hundred (200) tourists who visited the city of Manta and found themselves exploring the city attractions at that time. The information was obtained through a structured questionnaire of twenty (20) closed questions, consisting of basic information from the tourists, which was validated by eight (8) experts within the tourism field of study. The results show the difference in income, preferences that each tourist has, and type of expectations that each tourist had for each attraction.
