Abstract

Myelomeningocele is the main congenital disease of the central nervous system compatible with life, this is due to defects in the closure of the neural tube during the fourth and fifth weeks of gestation, it is strongly associated with complications that increase morbidity and mortality in patients who suffer from this disorder, among which hydrocephalus, Chiari II, tethered cord, motor and cognitive disorders, urological disorders, conditions for active and passive gait stand out. In this context, prenatal surgery was born as an early treatment, causing a significant reduction in the aforementioned complications.
