Abstract

The WHO estimates that 1-11% of the world's population will have diabetes by 2030. The IDF estimates that 578 million people will suffer from this disease. In this context, the ADA, in its 2021 report, estimates that 85% of these patients are Type II. It is estimated that only one-third of patients achieve expected treatment levels with traditional therapies. For this reason, in its latest update, it gives greater emphasis to the so-called new drugs for the treatment of diabetes, such as DDP-4 inhibitors, SGLT-2 inhibitors, and GLP-1 inhibitors. Therefore, this review will be based on studying the efficacy of these drugs in order to determine their effectiveness.
