Abstract: In this study, the diversity and abundance of macroinvertebrates in the Ecuadorian coast were determined. Macroinvertebrates have a significant impact on biodiversity and ecosystem stability, and are used as bioindicators of water pollution in aquatic ecosystems. They also play an important role in energy transfer along the food chain. The goal of the research was to gather scientific information about macroinvertebrates in the intertidal zone of the Ecuadorian coast. A search was conducted in various scientific and academic databases that included research conducted on the Ecuadorian coasts. The results of this study can help improve knowledge about macroinvertebrates in this region and contribute to the management and protection of aquatic natural spaces on the Ecuadorian coast.
