Abstract

This research focuses on the use of technology in social intervention in public or private institutions in the Manta canton. The objective is to determine the impact of the use of technology in social interventions in institutions located in Manta, obtaining an examination of its usefulness, the degree of implementation in these local institutions, and knowing the tools that are used and that assist in the professional field of Social Work. For this purpose, a mixed methodology was used, with a correlational and descriptive approach. Two techniques were also used: the application of surveys to 30 Social Work professionals from different institutions and the conduct of semi-structured interviews with key informants who work in this professional field. For this purpose, four social workers were interviewed, two from public institutions and two from private institutions in the city of Manta, obtaining a clear and consistent view of the different institutions to achieve a fair and equitable investigation. The results obtained conclude that the majority of social workers recognize the benefits that technology brings in its daily implementation in work activities. They also affirm that there are effective tools to streamline processes, improve communication with users, facilitate case follow-up and expand access to services, provided that it is integrated in an ethical and adaptive manner. At the same time, institutions must promote ongoing digital training for staff, recommending strengthening the digital capabilities of professionals.
