Abstract

This research project, with a qualitative approach and a descriptive design supported by an epistemological foundation, aimed to understand the professional approach to mediation in resolving family conflicts in the mediation centers of Manabí during the 2024–2025 period. The study focused on how mediation processes are carried out, as well as the resources and strategies used to address family issues from a professional and institutional perspective. To collect data, open-ended interviews were conducted with a total of six participants: one mediator, three claimants, and two respondents. Although the initial plan included a larger sample, the sensitive nature of the topic and the lack of trust from some potential participants limited the final number of interviews. Nevertheless, the information gathered was valuable and allowed for the identification of key aspects of the mediation process. The findings reveal that mediation centers play a crucial role in the peaceful resolution of family disputes, highlighting the effectiveness of the agreements reached and the voluntary participation of users. Additionally, the importance of support networks and multidisciplinary accompaniment was evident, as these elements strengthen the process and contribute to the overall well-being of the families involved. However, challenges remain regarding public awareness and accessibility to these services. In conclusion, family mediation stands out as an effective, humane, and necessary tool for strengthening social harmony and preventing unnecessary judicial proceedings.
