El machismo y su influencia en el desarrollo personal de las mujeres en la ciudadela si vivienda del cantón Manta, años 2024-2025.

Abstract

This research was carried out with the purpose of knowing how sexist conduct and behavior affect personal development because these ideologies determine the functions that each gender must perform, which not only affects their goal of reaching their maximum potential but also their personal decision-making. This study was located in the Ciudadela Si Vivienda in the Manta Canton whose main objective was to establish the influence that machismo generates in the personal development of the women of Si Vivienda in the Manta Canton, for which a quantitative methodology of an exploratory and descriptive type was used, in addition to the application of inductive, deductive and documentary methods, taking into consideration the female population of the place with a non-probabilistic sample of 80 women though the use of surveys and the questionnaire as an instrument. The results show that sexist attitudes and behaviors persist in the respondents´ environments. Half of the participants reported having experienced these situations at some point in their lives. This has impacted their perception of their abilities and skills, resulting in low self-esteem, economic or emotional dependence, and various limitations in their personal development. Based on the findings, it is concluded that sexism represents a significant barrier to women´s personal development. Therefore, the creation of participatory spaces where they can share experiences and recognize the sexist situations that kinder their autonomy and empowerment is recommended.
