Abstract: Reading The Color Purple becomes a powerful lens through which to observe how forms of discrimination against women, far from belonging to the past, are reconfigured in the present under new expressions of violence, exclusion, and structural racism. This research explores, through the voices of Afro-descendant women, the open wounds that gender inequality still leaves, revealing not only the barriers they face in their daily lives but also the strategies of resistance, sisterhood, and identity reconstruction they forge in the face of these oppressions. Through in-depth interviews and a focus group, their experiences were explored with a sensitive approach, analyzing narratives marked by pain, strength, and hope. The methodology allowed for the capture of nuances and revelations that, beyond the data, construct powerful narratives about being a woman in contexts marked by racism and patriarchy. The results reveal the urgency of critically examining our educational and social environment, where invisibility remains a subtle but persistent form of discrimination. This work, then, not only illuminates inherited scars but also invites active reflection on the role of education, literature, and collective memory in transforming realities. The study's greatest contribution lies in this bridge between the written word and embodied experience, where testimony becomes a political act and literature a seed of change.
