Abstract: | The main objective of this research is to identify how young adult literature can be an effective tool for motivating reading among first-year high school students at the Juan Montalvo Fiscomisional Educational Unit through an analysis of the trilogy "The Eyes of My Princess¨ by Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez. Perceptions, reading habits, and pedagogical tactics related to reading promotion were investigated using a mixed-method approach that combined interviews and surveys. The findings showed that students are more motivated to read when literary works represent their interests and experiences, especially when activities such as debates, book clubs, character analysis, and creative writing are included. It was also shown that teacher follow-up and positive recognition are essential elements for developing the habit of reading. This analysis concludes that by strategically incorporating young adult literature into the curriculum, students' critical thinking, empathy, creativity, and reading comprehension can be enhanced. In this way, it contributes to their personal and academic development. |
Description: | El presente trabajo investigativo tiene como objetivo principal identificar cómo la literatura juvenil puede ser una herramienta efectiva para motivar la lectura en estudiantes del primer año de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Juan Montalvo, mediante el análisis de la trilogía ¨Los ojos de mi princesa¨ de Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez. Se investigaron percepciones, costumbres de lectura y tácticas pedagógicas relacionadas con el fomento lector mediante un enfoque mixto que combinó la realización de las entrevistas y encuestas. |
