Abstract: The novel La Emancipada by Miguel Riofrío from Loja raises the social debate surrounding Rosaura's rebellion against the established norms of the 19th century. The main objective of this study is to examine the book La Emancipada in order to compare the representation of women in the 19th century with modern feminist concepts. The study uses a comparative qualitative method that allows for the analysis of observations made in various cases. The approach used is descriptive correlational because it allows for the portrayal of the knowledge that second-year high school students have about feminism, as articulated in the novel. The population is the Kerly Quijije Mero Educational Unit in the canton of Montecristi. To obtain the information, a questionnaire with open-ended questions and a survey were designed and administered to the students. The findings show that Riofrío created a woman who stands as a standard-bearer for contemporary feminism, capable of making decisions in the field of education and achieving historical empathy, which allows feminist struggles to be understood as a historical process in gender equality. It is concluded that the novel is an educational resource because it anticipates the demands of contemporary feminism.
Description: La novela La Emancipada del lojano Miguel Riofrío plantea la discusión social que tiene Rosaura al revelarse contra los cánones establecidos en el siglo XIX. El objetivo principal de este estudio es examinar el libro: La Emancipada para comparar la representación de las mujeres en el siglo XIX con los conceptos feministas modernos. El estudio utiliza un método cualitativo comparativo que permite analizar las observaciones realizadas en diversos casos.
