Abstract: The present work on curricular integration focused on the analysis of the novel El Chulla Romero y Flores, a work that reflects the social, cultural and identity conflicts that marked Quito in the 20th century. The general objective of this study is to analyze the construction and representation of identity in the work El Chulla Romero y Flores by the writer Jorge Icaza. It is considered one of the most representative works because it exposes the essence of Quito's identity. The research was based on dialogues of the characters, and key moments of the novel, in which the protagonist and a fragmented society are evident. The methodology was applied from a qualitative approach considering exploration, literary analysis, compilation of information and previous studies. The level of research is exploratory and descriptive. The theories that supported the investigative work are hermeneutics. Within the analysis of results, critical and interpretive methods were used. Meanwhile, data collection was carried out through techniques such as interviews, observation and interpretation of information. Through the narrative, themes about the struggle for identity, social injustice, miscegenation and corruption were addressed, being determining elements to understand the political and social dynamics in Ecuador and Latin America.
