Abstract: | The present research aims to analyze the rupture of the traditional female figure in the novel La Tigra by José de la Cuadra, evaluating how the protagonist, Francisca, embodies the desire for freedom and personal identity. To achieve this, a qualitative approach was adopted, with a descriptive and hermeneutic design focused on interpreting the symbolic, social, and literary content of the work. The sample consisted of eight intentional participants, including teachers, writers, and experts in gender studies and Montubio culture, using techniques such as semi-structured interviews and a review of specialized literature. The main results reveal that Francisca represents a figure of autonomy, strength, and leadership that challenges traditional gender models, although her empowerment is constrained by patriarchal social norms that minimize her power. The novel reflects the tensions between subjugation and the desire for autonomy, highlighting the influence of the Montubio context and the social and cultural issues of the time, while also showing that these struggles remain relevant in contemporary reality. In conclusion, it is established that La Tigra is a work that questions traditional gender roles through a transgressive character who symbolizes female resistance and emancipation in a society still marked by inequality, thereby contributing to the critical analysis of literature and gender studies. |
