Análisis social en el libro “Eugenia Grandet” para desarrollar el pensamiento crítico.

Abstract

The development of critical thinking is something fundamental within any society, because although we know this ability allows us to make the best decision regarding any crisis or problem that exists in our social or individual environment, but its function does not end there, we can help third parties in their options. When carrying out this research study, we decided to see how this skill or critical thinking has changed over the course of two centuries, comparing it with current society, analyzing a specific problem. We can see this conflict in the writings presented to us in the novels of 19th century realism by the distinguished French writer Honoré de Balzac, his works are characterized not only by showing the reality that was experienced at that time, but also by showing us the conflict that bothered Balzac, this was the greed of people and the little integrity that society had which is reflected in the novel “Eugenia Grandet”, since the upper class always had great preference over others. The project begins with the conflict of knowing if society has really changed. Is critical thinking still the same? Interviews are carried out with teachers and questionnaires with students of the “Juan Montalvo” Fiscomisional Educational Unit. The qualitative approach was used with the experimental deductive method. The population corresponds to students and teachers specialized in the area of language and literature, the sample used is thirty-six people. The results obtained in this research indicate the total ignorance of the works of realism, in addition to the fact that there is a change in critical thinking but some customs from past centuries are maintained.
