Abstract

Inventory control is based on the continuous improvement of a company's procedures, policies, and processes. Based on this premise, this research was developed to design an inventory control system for grocery stores in the parish of San Vicente, in order to improve operational efficiency and contribute to profitability. The study is based on theoretical information on the variables, with the goal of establishing the relationship between inventory control and profitability in grocery stores. The research methodology used was descriptive with a mixed approach. Two instruments were used to gather data: a survey administered to grocery store owners and an interview with the managing owner of Comercial Edison. SPSS v. 27 statistical software was used to measure the reliability of the instruments and to tabulate the study results. Among the most notable results, it was possible to identify the existing weaknesses in inventory control at the businesses studied and the urgent need to implement a digital tool to improve the efficiency of these businesses' inventory control activities. Finally, based on the results obtained, a proposal is presented that includes the design of a dashboard-based digital tool aimed at optimizing inventory control in grocery stores.
