dc.description.abstractThis research is related to myofunctional therapy for patients with spastic and ataxic dysarthria; Its general objective is to deepen the application of myofunctional therapy in patients with spastic and ataxic dysarthria who attend the Santa Martha de Manta Health Center, the study is descriptive, detailing the disorder, its characteristics, symptoms and features. The population was represented by 20 patients with spastic and ataxic dysarthria, of which were: 11 female and 9 male. For the information collection, the Observation and Analysis System test of the peripheral oral mechanism was applied, consisting of 23 items grouped into three categories. It was carried out, an in-depth interview with the expert in the area of language therapy, the patients' clinical records were reviewed. The results indicate that the sex most affected with dysarthria is the female and the age that was most affected was 7 years; it is shown that the level of involvement of the peripheral oral mechanism is severe; The techniques that they use most in myofunctional therapy are: relaxation and breathing, orofacial, chewing and praxias, having as main observed benefits of myofunctional therapy muscle correction, help create correct muscle patterns in chewing, correct deaths Orofacials, regulates sensitivity, improves the control of sialorrhea, it is concluded that myofunctional therapy as a method of phonoaudiological treatment in patients with spastic and ataxic dysarthria.es
