Language is an inherent process related to human development of vital importance, the idea that language has transformed human consciousness because it allows the development of new ways of thinking and the acquisition of knowledge, leads us to seek a theoretical explanation about existing relationships between thought, language and its possible relationship in determining the actions of a recipient. A delay in language development, in the first years of life, can lead to later difficulties in communication and learning; Therefore, it is suggested that speech therapy intervention by the speech therapist on the initial difficulties would be preventive in these patients. The present case was treated in the area of Logophoniatry and Language Therapy of the NAR service (High Risk Children) of the "Rafael Rodríguez Zambrano Hospital" in the city of Manta, Ecuador, between the months of April to September 2019. It is of a 28-month-old patient with a diagnosis of microcephaly secondary to Zika virus infection, who, after evaluation by observation, interview and qualitative assessments, was diagnosed as language delay. A speech therapy intervention proposal was made and applied, which favors the development of language skills.es
