Intervención de Enfermería al adulto mayor con Alzheimer.

Abstract

Introduction: According to the World Health Organization, Alzheimer's is a neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by a gradual deterioration of a person's memory and cognitive function. Its cause is unknown, and it accounts for between 50-70% of the different types of dementia.The objective of the research work focuses on designing an educational guide of comprehensive care models for older adults with Alzheimer's, thereby guaranteeing greater efficiency in the intervention process on the part of the nursing professional. Methodology: it is a documentary investigation, based on the search, collection, organization and analysis of various sources on a previously developed study topic on nursing interventions in older adults with Alzheimer's. Likewise, the following theoretical-level scientific methods were used: analysis-synthesis, historical-logical, inductive-deductive. Results obtained: Through the bibliographic analysis, it was possible to understand the importance of comprehensive care in maintaining and promoting the health of older adults with Alzheimer's, to strengthen their quality of life. In addition, it provides various strategies focused on supporting family members as part of comprehensive care. Therefore, the nursing professional must provide interventions linked to the comprehensive care model; as coping strategies to prevent and mitigate the fundamental effects in holistic care, focusing on comprehensive care.
