Abstract

The objective of this work is to investigate prevention and health education actions in current dentistry. The methodological design was based on the systematic review of investigative and explanatory literature of scientific articles, magazines, books and research projects focused on oral health prevention and education. As results within the study topic, it was verified that the most prevalent dental problems are cavities, on the other hand, bad eating habits and lack of oral health care stand out; They have little knowledge of correct oral hygiene; many investigations determine that children have a greater problem due to the infrequency of brushing. In addition, there are no visits to dental centers for a periodic review of the oral cavity. In conclusion, the group with the biggest problem are low-income people and the lack of knowledge of the materials and supplies that should be used for oral hygiene.
