This study focuses on describing the application of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) systems that influence the ability to speak and communicate in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), considering that ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, resulting in a progressive loss of the ability to move and, eventually, verbal communication. The methodology used in this research is systematic, bibliographic and qualitative, where a systematic review of the existing literature will be carried out, covering articles, magazines and high-impact books published, analyzing various sources to identify the types of AAC systems used, their effectiveness and specific interventions carried out by speech therapists. The expected outcomes of this study include a detailed understanding of the AAC systems most effective in improving communication for people with ALS. It is hoped to identify best practices and the most promising methods used by speech pathologists to implement these systems. In conclusion, the research highlights the critical importance of AAC systems in the management of communication in people with ALS, through the effective implementation of these systems, supported by well-informed and personalized speech therapy interventions, can significantly improve the quality of life of the patients. patients, which highlights the need for an integrated and holistic approach to address the complex communication needs of people affected by ALS.es
