The present investigation of this study is to investigate the impact of work stress on the productivity of merchants in the Nuevo Tarqui market, Manta. Work stress is understood as a multidimensional phenomenon that affects the physical and mental health of employees and has been shown to be an important factor that affects their daily performance. The study used quantitative methods, based on the application of 318 surveys to merchants selected through random sampling. The studies evaluated factors such as the work environment, emotional and physical tension, as well as exhaustion. The results showed that inadequate environment, task overload, and burnout have a significant impact on decreased productivity. Additionally, physical workplace conditions such as lighting and noise were identified as playing an important role in employee well-being. Based on these findings, several intervention strategies are proposed, such as implementing workplace wellness programs, improving the physical environment, and implementing work incentives. This study adds to the existing literature on work-related stress in the business sector and highlights the need to address it to improve employee productivity and well-being.es
