Manejo odontológico de pacientes pediátricos con diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Childhood diabetes mellitus is one of the most chronic diseases in pediatric dentistry, therefore, there is a correct protocol within the consultation to adapt to its needs and treat this type of patient without difficulties. The objective of this research was to describe the correct dental management of pediatric patients with diabetes mellitus. This research was carried out by searching for bibliographic information that covered the various types of documents and articles that referred to the subject to be treated. The results indicated that the most revalent oral pathology in this type of patient is periodontal disease and dental caries, in addition to the fact that the health professional must be fully informed about the current state of the patient and his diabetes in order to proceed with dental care. From these results it was concluded that the pediatric dentist must have all possible knowledge on how to treat a patient with this disease in his consultation, in addition to always working hand in hand with the specialist doctor treating his patient's disease.
