Relación de los determinantes sociales y el índice pufa, en los niños que acuden a la Clínica de Odontopediatría, en la Carrera de Odontología de la Uleam, periodo 2024-1.

Abstract

Untreated dental caries recorded in the PUFA/pufa index constitutes an oral health problem assessing pulpo-periapical lesions. Objective: To determine the relationship between social determinants and the prevalence of the pufa index in children attending the ULEAM Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. Materials and methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional observational study taking data obtained from the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic on the care provided during the 2024-1 period in the Child and Adolescent Clinic, to the population of 100 children aged 6 to 14 years, on the PUFA/pufa index and surveys of pediatric risk factors and social determinants of health. Results: The PUFA/pufa index was identified in 34 participants, within the factors: self -perceived oral health, self- perceived oral disease, oral hygiene index, dietary habits and unmet needs, the most frequently found standard was at a low level. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between social determinants, socioeconomic factors and the PUFA/PUFA index due to the low knowledge of the risk factors that trigger dental caries, which progresses affecting other tissues.
