Importancia del control glucémico en la atención odontológica.

Abstract

Dental care faces a challenge regarding the management of patients with glycemic disorders, which have a significant impact on the patient's oral health conditions. In this context, adequate glycemic control is essential for the prevention of oral diseases and severe complications after dental care. The main purpose of this research is to identify the importance of glycemic control in dental care and to achieve this we have two specific objectives: to analyze the criteria for glycemic assessment and to compare the relationship between glycemic control and the oral health of the patient. The methodology used is based on an updated systematic review of academic sources in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The findings highlight that poor glycemic control is associated with severe oral conditions and risk of infections and alterations in the oral cavity. This research highlights the need to integrate the assessment and management of glycemic control into dental practice and emphasizes collaboration with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care that addresses both the general and oral health of the patient. In summary, this research demonstrates that glycemic control is key in dental care and highlights the close relationship between glucose management and oral health.
