dc.description.abstract | Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the central nervous system, causing a series of motor symptoms that significantly impact patients' ability to perform daily activities including dental care and attention. This s tudy presents a comprehensive review of the literature with the aim of providing an analysis of dental management in patients with Parkinson’s disease, A review methodology has been applied that focuses on identifying and evaluating current strategies and recommendations that address the specific needs of these patients in the dental setting. Key aspects are explored, such as motor issues that affect patients' ability to maintain good oral hygiene and undergo dental procedures. Strategies to minimize the impact of motor symptoms, the use of effective communication techniques, and the creation of a clinical environment that facilitates patient comfort are discussed. Results, the importance of the multidisciplinary approach is highlighted, articles that are published between 2017 and 2023 were reviewed, including ystematic reviews, clinical studies, descriptive studies and clinical practice guidelines. These studies underscore the collaboration between dentists, neurologists, and other health professionals to provide comprehensive and personalized care. Conclusion The dental management that should be considered to treat a patient with Parkinson's is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary treatment, in order to improve oral functionality and quality of life. | es |
