Resumen : Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a disease widely known and studied today, which affects a number of people around the world and whose life expectancy depends on the ability of patients to adhere to the comprehensive treatment of it, as well as to follow the medical indications and recommendations. There are a wide variety of factors that directly influence the ability of patients to adhere to the treatment of the disease, however, socio-economic factors are among the most important, along with psychosocial factors. As a chronic disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus undoubtedly involves significant costs for those suffering from it, which depend on the socio-economic status of the patient and whose relationship is directly proportional to the patient. The methodology of this systematic review is based on the consultation of various reliable sources of information, such as Chocrane, Redalyc, Scielo, Sciente Direct, among others. The findings of the research reveal that a stable socio-economic level makes it possible for the patient to acquire the hypoglycemic drugs and follow the recommended diet; likewise, a basic educational level is indispensable for patients to be able to understand the context of the disease, as well as the recommendations of the doctor and its indications. Access to health services/centres are essential factors, referring to their availability or proximity to the place of residence as well as family accompaniment, make it easier for patients to stick to the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Descripción : La Diabetes mellitus tipo 2, es una enfermedad ampliamente conocida y estudiada en la actualidad, misma que afecta a un sinnúmero de personas alrededor del mundo y cuya esperanza de sobrevida, depende de la capacidad de los pacientes de apegarse al tratamiento integral de la misma y a seguir las indicaciones y recomendaciones médicas.
