dc.description.abstract | Type II diabetes is a chronic global disease with no cure but can be treated. However, it requires not only medical treatment but also physical and emotional adaptation by the patient. In this process, nursing plays a fundamental role by providing education, emotional support, and complication prevention. Objective: To analyze nursing interventions in type II diabetic patients during the adaptation to their disease through literature reviews, in order to promote positive behaviors that support adjustment in their lives. Methodology: This is a documentary study with a deductive, analytical, retrospective, qualitative, and descriptive approach. Twenty-five bibliographic sources were reviewed to analyze the adaptation process experienced by these patients and the nursing intervention involved. Results: Various research sources highlight the crucial role of nursing in the adaptation to type II diabetes, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach that considers the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and behavioral aspects of the patient. Conclusions: Patients with this disease often experience difficulties adapting, facing challenges such as poor treatment adherence and complications. This study underscores the importance of the nursing role in helping type II diabetic patients adapt, through timely actions that address physical, emotional, and behavioral factors. Therefore, an educational workshop focused on self-care, nutrition, exercise, and emotional management is proposed as a strategy to improve patient adaptation and quality of life. | es |
