Atención de enfermería para prevenir complicaciones en niños y adolescentes con diabetes Mellitus tipo I.

Abstract

This research project focuses on nursing care to prevent complications in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus, the objective was to identify through a bibliographic review the main nursing care aimed at preventing complications of type 1 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents. The applied methodology is a bibliographic review, analytical-synthetic method, it has a documentary approach since it is based on the search and review of documents from bibliographic sources, especially scientific articles by different authors on the prevalent complications of type 1 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents. Among the results is that among the most common complications, with 28%, are microvascular: nephropathy, retinopathy, and diabetic neuropathy, with 23% it is found that diabetes increases the risk of children developing conditions such as narrow blood vessels, high blood pressure, heart disease, with 20% diabetic ketoacidosis, and the following in lower percentages. In conclusion, the guide provides relevant information, educating, motivating, and paving the way for teaching habits that can help achieve good self-care for their disease. It also allows for the participation of health professionals who want to contribute critical ideas, proposals, suggestions, advice, or news that can enrich and contribute actions aimed at improving the quality of life of children and adolescents with diabetes and their families.
