Abstract

Introduction: This review explores the current status of cannabis in medical use, which has prompted global legislative and policy reform, aspects of plant-based drug development, and pharmacovigilance to guide practice until information on drug development in medicinal cannabis preparations is available and complete. Results: The results were obtained through a thorough review that included articles, essays, and other scientific evidence focusing on the use of CBD in type 2 diabetes, obtaining the results closest to achieving our objective, such as administration doses, possible effects in these patients, and consequently adverse effects that may lead to the therapeutic safety of the study. Conclusion: The results of each of the studies reviewed are generally neutral and, in some cases, negative due to a lack of therapeutic confidence due to the limited evidence from human clinical trials. The medical community needs to investigate this relevant topic since it represents a global public health problem.
