dc.description.abstract | The common characteristic that all viruses have is to mutate, change their structure, in order to survive as the host or hosts generate immunity. In the same way, SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19 will fulfill its survival objective by mutating, that is where variants emerge, these variants will have distinctive characteristics such as genetic, epidemiological and/or structural changes. As the virus undergoes mutations, it will also alter its manifestation, impacting transmissibility, severity of clinical status, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, vaccine efficiency, and control measures. In the United Kingdom, the use of the classification was encouraged according to which variants should be concerned about and which variants should be of interest or care. For this reason, two categories were generated to refer to special types of SARS CoV-2 variants: a) Variant of interest (VOI) and b) Variant of Concern (VOC) This classification was adopted by the World Health Organization for its largest organization The World Health Organization (WHO) has shared 11 variants of Covid-19 between the two categories: "worrying" and "interesting". | es |
