Abstract: The present work aimed to analyze the role of the social workers and their participation in interdisciplinary teams within the educational field, particularly in public and private institutions in the canton of Manta, during the year 2025. The problem addressed focused on the limited visibility and professional valuation of the social worker in school contexts, despite their potential to intervene in social issues affecting the comprehensive development of students. To this end, a qualitative methodology was applied, using a semi-structured interview technique directed at key informants, specifically social workers from both types of institutions. The results showed that in the fiscal system, the intervention of the social worker was more related to the attention of cases of social vulnerability, although with scarce resources and without strategic planning. In contrast, in the private system, while there were better logistical conditions, the role of the social worker was not clearly defined or integrated into the institutional management processes. It was concluded that in both educational systems, the social worker performed important functions but still limited by structural factors and the lack of technical recognition of their intervention. The main recommendation was to strengthen the integration of the professionals in interdisciplinary teams, with a clear definition of their functions, institutional support, and the application of methodologies specific to Social Work, which allow for planned, sustained, and impactful interventions in the educational community.
Description: El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo analizar el rol del trabajador social y su participación en equipos interdisciplinarios dentro del ámbito educativo, particularmente en instituciones fiscales y privadas del cantón Manta, durante el año 2025. El problema abordado se centró en la limitada visibilidad y valoración profesional del trabajador social en contextos escolares, a pesar de su potencial para intervenir en problemáticas sociales que afectan el desarrollo integral del estudiantado.
