Determinación de metales pesados (cadmio y plomo) en el calamar gigante (Dosidicus gigas) en la ciudad de Manta, Ecuador.

Abstract

The sea accumulates a large amount of contaminants, including heavy metals such as lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd), which are absorbed by the gills and skin of marine animals. This research seeks to quantitatively determine the concentration levels of heavy metals such as Pb and Cd in giant squid (Dosidicus gigas), a species highly commercialized in the city of Manta, to evaluate if they exceed the permitted limit of 1.0 mg/kg regulated by the European Union legislation of chemical contaminants in food products.
