dc.description.abstractCommunication and teamwork are key soft skills in current educational context of EFL instruction. This stydy aim is to strengthen communication and teamwork skills through a group mentoring strategy in pre-service EFL teachers program. The participants are 36 pre-service EFL teachers at an Ecuadorian public university. The instruments used for the collection of data are a Structured ield diary, Team Effectiveness Likert Scale Questionnaire, and a Global self-rating scale. The researcher team designed an embedded mixed-methods. The results show that Communication scores increased from 6.94 (SD = 1.39) to 7.51 (SD = 1.44), t = −3.13, p = .004, and teamwork scores passed from 7.04 (SD = 1.75) to 7.73 (SD = 1.75), t = −3.25, p = .004. Qualitative findings showed increased participation, active listening, feedback, trust, coordination, and problem-solving. Results suggest group mentoring may support soft-skill development, although the small sample, and self-reports.es
