Presencia de nematodos en terneros de la Parroquia Wilfrido Loor - Maicito del cantón El Carmen.

Abstract

This research work was carried out in the Wilfrido Loor Moreira Maicito parish of the Carmen canton, Manabí Province, on the Santo Domingo – Chone road, with the objective of determining the presence of nematodes in calves in the Wilfrido Loor Moreira Maicito parish in the Canton El Carmen, for this, 51 samples were taken from 11 different cattle farms in the sector and the genera of gastrointestinal parasites found and the prevalence in calves were determined. In the results obtained, a descriptive analysis was used, through tabulation and graphs of data that allowed knowing and interpreting the results of the investigation; For the development of the field phase, fecal samples were taken for coprological studies of calves at eight weeks of age; The samples were analyzed in the Laboratory of the Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí University through flotation methods. In the analysis of the samples taken from the parasites found, the parasites of the genus Haemonchus, Cooperia, Coccidia, Strongyloides and Ascaris were identified, for the determination of the presence of nematodes the percentage in relation to the total samples in which the Haemonchus present the highest percentage in the samples analyzed with 27.45% in the farms of the sector of Chontillal and via a la Pava, followed by the parasites Coccidia and Cooperia in values of 15.68% and 19.60% and Strongyloides and Ascaris with 3.92% in farms located in the sector via a la Pava.
