Presencia de nematodos en terneros de la parroquia 4 de Diciembre del cantón El Carmen.

Abstract

An experimental work was established in the 4 de Diciembre parish of El Carmen canton, Manabí Province, located at km 38 of the Chone road, with the objective of determining the presence of nematode parasites in calves in the 4 de Diciembre parish of the canton El Carmen, for which 45 samples were obtained from the calves located in the different cattle farms, to determine the genera of gastrointestinal parasites present in the calves and to evaluate the percentage of incidence of these in the animals of the parish, the investigation corresponds to the of a descriptive type since by means of the tabulation and analysis of the results obtained the data found at the field level were analyzed, to obtain the samples the feces of the calves were taken and by means of a coprological analysis the genders and incidence of the nematodes in calves; The samples were analyzed in the laboratory of the Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí University through flotation methods. In the results obtained and the analysis of the data, it was determined that the calves of the 4 de Diciembre parish present nematodes of the genus Haemonchus, Cooperia, Coccidia, Strongyloides and Ascaris while no incidences of the genus Ostertagia were identified; Regarding the percentage of incidence, it was determined that the nematodes of the genus Haemonchus were found in a higher proportion with 40%, followed by those of the genus Cooperia with 20% and the genus Coccidia with 17.8%.
