Abstract

This research work focuses on analyzing the system of green areas, established as an indispensable part of any strategy for sustainable development, taking as a case study the Rocafuerte canton of the Province of Manabí. Green areas have an impact on the quality of life of a population, due to the benefits they can offer in different areas, such as social, health and climate. For this reason, one of the objectives is to carry out a diagnosis of the accessible green areas, considering the cantonal capital and the rural communities that maintain a well-established development. The methodological approach used maintains a descriptive model with a quantitative and qualitative character that seeks to characterize the green areas and have an accurate vision of the context of the canton in relation to the population. In this way, the deficit of the canton of Rocafuerte becomes evident and through the analysis and diagnosis, a mass plan focused on the projection of accessible green areas can be generated to help reduce and treat the problem in a strategic way, in order to bet on a sustainable and efficient development of the canton.
