Proyecto de regeneración urbana - arquitectónica en el campus central de la Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí.

Abstract

The University Laica Eloy Alfaro of Manabí suffered severe damage to its facilities due to the earthquake that occurred on April 16, 2016, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale. The general objective of the present research work was to diagnose the state of the university in order to generate an urban-architectural proposal that improves the public space of the campus. In general, this document consists of a theoretical analysis that is subsequently complemented with a diagnosis of the site through field observation and the statistical method, using the survey as instrument. The population is constituted by the students, teaching and administrative staff of the University. The results of this investigation showed us that the current situation of University Laica Eloy Alfaro of Manabí, is not the best; the road infrastructure is deteriorated, and there are areas where the lack of shade and the dominance of concrete generate high temperatures at certain times of the day, turning recreational spaces into transitional spaces. The scarcity of urban furniture or the evident damage to the same generates a poor urban image, which limits users to make use of them. Finally, as it is an educational establishment, it is necessary to build a general library and spaces that promote physical conditioning activities, in this case the coliseum.
