Abstract

An investigation was carried out on the grounds of the experimental farm "Rio Suma" belonging to the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí, El Carmen extension, with the objective of evaluating the effect of the color of polyethylene in the practice of sheathing and the application of Phytohormones in the quality of the export banana bunch (Musa AAB), for this four colors of polyethylene sheaths (blue, green, lead and lilac) and two plant phytohormones (gibberellin and cytokinin) were established plus a control without sheathing and without phytohormones, a completely randomized block design DBCA was used in factorial arrangement A x B + N, resulting in a total of 9 treatments and three repetitions, the trial was established in an established culture at productive age, in which they were divided into plots according to the treatments. The results found determined that the brix degrees and number of days from flowering to harvest did not show significant differences (p> 0.05) between the factors and the interaction, this determines that the colors and phytohormones do not influence these parameters, the fingers they had an average of 7.09 ° Brix and took 65.89 days to harvest; For bunch weight, number of fingers and bunches per box showed statistical differences (p <0.05) in the comparison of means between treatments against controls, reaching values of 25.29 pounds on average, 25.68 fingers per bunch and 1.99 bunches per box of banana.
